Two reporters sitting next to each other with same Notebooks Except For The Processor. Doing the same things. One makes it to 3 hours while the other makes it to 5 hours. Did you watch the video on my revised post with the link to it? These guys were at the Core 2 Duo launch last week. You gonna call them liars?
What's with all the anti Core 2 hostility here?
Jesus christ, did you even watch the video? They were not reporters they were Intel staffers. He even says that the CoreDuo lasted 3 hours, not your claimed 2. This isn't scientific AT ALL and I would much rather believe Intel engineers who presented the info at IDF than some random marketing drivel with absolutely no information provided on the hardware/software.
Now stop claiming that dropping a Merom in a MB/MBP is going to result in two times the battery life. That is not true. And if you think it is I will make a bet with you right now.
I'm not anti Core2Duo, I'm anti disinformation.

Isn't the Conroe cheaper than the mobility line of chips? Plus they deliver a lot more performance too!
Yes and yes.

No. Their introduction of FinFETs is similar to the edge they had with the high-k metal gate process until not long ago.
But until Intel releases technology using the new transistors people dumped arm stocks for essentially hype,(?) Which is why I'm surprised.

I'm also betting that the macbook pro and macbook both get core 2 duo chips, with MBP getting faster ones with 4MB L2 cache, and MB getting slower ones with lower L2 cache.
i agree, this will set them the mb and mbp apart well
Although i still think the macbook will use core duo for a while to come with for now if the mbp's get merom, the mb will have the clock speeds of the current mbp's (2.0 and 2.16) when the new mbp is released,
But most of all i want conroe in the iMac

Also, this illustrates one of the more elegant aspects of the design of the TomTom car kit, which is it allows for one-handed insertion. With ordinary mounts like Navigon's, you have to first connect the iPhone to the charger -- a two-handed operation -- and then put it in the mount.
Just a side note to all the discussion in this thread. I just searched the Navigon site for the European Version of the iPhone mount and the price to buy it is 39.95 Euros + VAT charges = 44.90 Euros (or $67.48), and does not count the shipping charges. At $67, it makes the purchase of the TomTom Car Kit at $87 an amazing deal. The Navigon kit is only the windshield mount and a charging cable.
Here's the link if you want to look for yourself:

I guarantee America has all the technology required to make components for a phone battery.
And yes, I'd pay more for EVERYTHING I buy if I knew that an American was making it here in America. That means more people working fair-wage jobs, paying taxes, and contributing to the economy by spending THEIR money in the economy as well.
Problem is, as I said before, Apple sells worldwide. And most of the world couldn't possibly care less if a product is made in the USA or in Japan. We want it to be as good as it is now, at the best price. America can't do that, can it? Prince increase = sales decrease.

Of course they will move to ARM, everyone will. Google is allready running their data centres on ARM based servers, Windows 8 will run on ARM as well, Apple is investing huge amount of money into their A4, A5 chips. The main problem of computers nowadays is power efficiency and not computing power, because most of the computers allready are overpowerd for what their users usually do with them.

Honestly, I hope Toyota tells Apple to stuff it.
Too late. They already agreed to pull it.
I was more disappointed in Cydia's public response to the request. If the want to appear more legitimate, they should assume that conversations with 'clients' are confidential.
BTW - Apple can reasonably be expected to want iOS to be portrayed in a specific light. I think it's fine for Apple to have asked for the take down, so long as they did not threaten to take action against Toyota.

Btw, why would Apple go back to messing up with their names?
+1, the 3GS name was neccessary to get future naming straight. There's no reason why they'd mess it up again on purpose now.

I could care less about the Movie Store... or a video iPod... I just want to hear the following in the same sentence:
"Core 2 Duo"; "Macbook Pro" ;)
It likely will not happen on Tuesdsay, but I'm going to be very disappointed if it doesn't happen in the next few weeks... I'm not angry and I'm not a whiner - I'll just be a little disappointed, that's all.

If this news is true, then there must be a total revamp of iOS. I don't mind if the look of the phone stays the same (even though a larger screen wouldn't hurt) but it's more what you can do with it. New notification system, maybe live icons, file system?
I am hyped for the iOS event rather than the new fall iPhone event.

I can understand the death of XServe. A product that doesn't make money should't stay around, it is simple as that. Such a dual purpose machine would allow Apple to address a broader range of user needs.
In any event I think part for the reason XServe failed was the lines limited nature. Like it or not a 1U server is still limited in capability. Also this idea that TB will effectively replace PCI-E slots is a bit crazy in my mind. Some cards simply need the lowest possible cost implementation and compatibility with PC hardware. In other words a Mac Pro without PCI slots would be crazy on Apples part.

I can see apple maybe putting an ARM chip in the macbook so it can run in low power tablet mode, but to complete replace the CPU really makes no sense. However lots that the do seldom makes sense, so who knows. The reason I won't be buying a mac again is simply because they are severly underpowered, gaming really sucks on them compared to what you can get on a PC.

Samsung even copied the iphone 4 design for their Television Remote Control.
hmm. metal or metalish looking band around sleek black. Samsung = KIRF
To be a fly on the wall in their design meetings. hmm... lets copy the iphone. people like that design.
http://myiphonenews.com/they-say-imitation-is-the-greatest-form-of-flattery-so-samsung-must-loooove-the-iphone/
Also look and feel is the essence of these gadgets. These people aren't designing cars and rocketships. It's some simple glass and metal. The look and feel is all they got and it's those subtle differences that matter.
How it feels in your hand, the suble curves, how your hand interacts with the glass. Sounds dumb but i'm sure massive testing and trial and error goes into this. Well at least i'm sure it does at apple and then samsung copies it.

So what would you call 500ml of beer at a bar?
Somehow I don't see that becoming popular pub lingo...
Growing up in a metric country (French speaking Switzerland) it was a canette, and Wikipedia reveals a veritable plethora of other colloquial terms in French depending on your location.
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verre__bire
Including: Demi, Pinte, Distingu, Vritable, Baron, Mini-chevalier, Chope, Srieux, Canette, ... (the bold one should look somewhat familiar ;) )
It's just like I said earlier about the pound. In everyday use there's not much difference between a 454 g pound and a 500 g "pound".

Heh. No LTE, no NFC, no bigger screen, no antenna fix, and now no iOS upgrade? What's the point in releasing an iPhone at all this year?
These are just RUMORS! They will do at least some. Most likely, NFC, antenna fix, and IOS upgrade.

Please Apple, don't do this. You are just finishing the transition from PowerPC to Intel by removing Rosetta from Lion and you're already planning on switching architectures again. Are they TRYING to fragment their Macs?

Wow, an article about Apple suing someone, that has more negatives than positives?
Thats probably a first.
Give it some time and watch the positives skyrocket by the end of the day. If this were an article about Microsoft suing somebody, it'd be all negatives.
