People don't seem to understand what manufacturing capacity means. Probably because a lot of the people on Mac Rumors don't know how to think with their heads. Apple secured most of the manufacuring capacity of the plants because they are having problems FILLING THEIR OWN ORDERS. This has nothing to do with monopoly cr@p and everything to do with a smart business move of a trailblazer. Only the followers are being burned by this because thy are trying to make the '3rd party iPads'. Not make their own product.

Now we need someone to test it on an iPod touch, I'd be thrilled to see it work on an iPod. On the other hand, at that price (car kit + app) you can get a very decent Tomtom dedicated GPS-navigator and use your iPod for something else...

I think Apple needs to concentrate more on improving iOS rather than adding a faster processor. Tbh I'm pretty fed up of my iPhone 4 as the is just looks boringly simple. Not everybody wants the same old os on every device. I think it's the omnia 7 next for me so I can have a change.
That doesn't fit in with their UI principles so they won't. Once I too questioned why anyone should expect an OS to be inherently entertaining I had to agree that spending any time making the launch board delight you would be silly and pointless. And why on Earth should a phone have a "desktop"?

I guess the later release of the next gen iPhone would make sense at least, in terms of the release of the white iPhone 4.
When Philip Schiller said the white iPhone 4 would arrive 'this spring', many questioned the logic, given the 'impending' Summer release of the iPhone 5.
The timing of this release obviously makes makes more sense now (if this latest rumor is true lol).

I think a lot of fans would rather to get the physical media which gives the feel of buying a new apple product (and opening it).

hmm, just checked the Apple Edu Store (UK) and i noticed the 20" iMac was a 5-7 day. Checked the standard Store, same thing. Wonder if that means they may put the Merom/Conroe in a 20" and keep the yonah in the 17?
Most likely not, but no harm in having a shot in the dark.

Redundant power supplies are generally not a standard feature for most x86 servers sold. It isn't a must (requirement); it is an optional feature need if want to sell to the relatively small subset of the market that wants them. (e.g, none of Google's, Microsoft's ,etc search/cloud servers have dual power supplies and they number in the many, many thousands. )
Citation needed.
Even our Active-Active cluster boxes have redundant power supplies plugged into seperate electrical circuits and wired to independant UPSes, never mind our Active-Passive cluster solutions...
The fact is, most data centers do go for maximum redundancies without single points of failure on the hardware side.
When you have a massively parallele solution with custom software that is built to run on non-redundant hardware like Google built with their search engine, yeah, you can afford to skimp on hardware. They don't care if 1 node out of their 10000 fails, and the software doesn't see the impact. But that 1 specialised custom application is not an industry standard and is far from the norm in building data centers.

Don't forget the Mac Mini :D
Its not a stretch to assume all the lower end consumer level units will see upgrades as well.
iMac
MBP
MBB (black)
Mini
The Pro Mac is overdue, but the software isnt ready. Maybe keep a G5 in the works, for people who work and move on with the new Pro Macs.
If we dont see it all on Tuesday. What is the longest Apple can wait? And why would they choose to wait?

Maybe they will move to at least 2x 2.5" drive slots for SSDs(or laptop hard disk drives if you want) with another 2x 3.5" for traditional storage.
In any event, I'd expect to see 2.5" drive slots somewhere in a new designed mac pro.

Here in Belgium a combination pack of iPhone and a subscription is still illegal, so all the iPhones are around the same price, namely 749 (yes, euros) for the top model (sucks, doesn't it).
So when the iPhone5 comes out, the iPhone4 will become 100 cheaper, that's too small a difference to let the iPhone5 pas by. Unfortunally because the price is so high and we can choose our own telephone subscriptions I buy them in 2-year cycles.
For me the iPhone5 can be an upgrade of the iPhone4 with the same design. Just change the backside from glass to metal.
I'm looking out for September.

I was wondering what took them so long to redesign this monstrous beast MacPro lol
It's very powerful and expensive but it was too big... Considering all other Apple Products

This seems to good to be true.
With Windows, Sophos actively discourages home users by pricing their product out of the market for single licenses 100 plus. Multiple (corporate) licenses rapidly become much cheaper, and the licenses include home use for employees.
Even though it has the reputation of being the best AV available, the price meant that once I was no longer eligible for a free license, I had to leave Sophos behind, so this is really good news that a free version is available for the Mac.
I still find it rather strange, unless it shows a change in policy. Or they are testing it out on the home market before focussing on the corporate market.

I guess I can see Apple's point. But, aren't all tablets going to have a similar style and interface? It would seem like there can be only marginal differences in a touch screen interface.
And that tab does not look like Apple's style! Where's the sleekness? Where's the smooth lines? Where's the unibody? Where's the subtle curves? Where's the... you get my point. Yuck! That Samsung tablet doesn't seem very Apple-esque! Surmise lawsuit will be settled out of court for first dibs on displays and flash memory or better contract terms on parts Apple buys from Samsung. :apple:
