Not really.
JB is not illegal, its my right to JB my device. Sure, it voids your warranty - but thats a risk.
Apple may say its illegal, but Apple's word does not override the law of the land.

This is great and bad at the same time for me. I'm so happy that they'll finally move to Merom. However, I've been holding off an MBP since mid-April. I was really hoping to get one after WWDC. If it's true that they may launch it in September, I may not be able to get it in time for school, and the ipod rebate may be over.

sounds plausible, but i really don't see iPad 3 coming out any time this year. it's way too soon
I agree. The only situation I can see where this would be a possibility is if one of the "iPad killers" actually did kill the iPad 2. And they came out with specs that just absolutely blew it away. But I just don't see that happening. It looks like the iPad 2 and the Xoom are coexisting just fine.

Well, it makes sense that Apple would have to be aggresively pursuing these chips now that they are in the true PC market. If they were to sit on their laurels they would honestly find out how fast this market would eat them alive. It does not take much to assume, guess, spread rumors about such a thing and be correct.

A lot of the science practices used now days an that will be used in the future starts being used for something it was not designed for,or better yet not "though of" (minoxidil was created for hypertension, not treatment of hair loss, Botox was used for treatment of facial spasms not make you look younger, The internet was created for research development by the government, and the list goes on and on). It is the nature of science and technology to evolve. Like it or not (I sure don't), just like Napster, Geo-location technology used for finding out even more information about you is here to stay one way or another.
Man up people! how we implement the "new" use of any technology without crossing and protecting personal rights is where we should be concentrating on (promoting solutions and protection laws). It is waste time arguing (through news articles and political speeches) defending the mere existence of something that is not going anywhere.
This is what I posted in the CNET article http://news.cnet.com/8301-27080_3-20056540-245.html#ixzz1KYPyyi19

Why can't Apple sell me a desktop with 2GB RAM stock and a 250GB HD for less than two grand?
They can. It is called an iMac, and the 17 incher with 2 GB of RAM and a 25o GB HDD goes for $1674.00

I guess I am the only one that remembers that it started out as a free service. Before it was .Mac it was called iTools and it was free. It was a benefit of being a part of the Mac community. It certainly was much more basic back then, but I have been using it since. The remote wipe for iPhone and other added features keep it worth the family pac price for this household even if it doesn't go back to being a free service.
I remember good old iTools, in fact, you didnt even have to have a mac to use the email if I remember right. There was a huge uproar when a Jaguar update started branding it .mac and would began charging. The good old days! It's kinda a sucker punch to all of us who paid when it was .mac. The only benefits of .mac were iDisk, ecards and backup really. $99 for that compared to mobileMe, makes mobileMe a bargain, lol.

Isn't it about time they update their .Mac offerings too?
Maybe there's .mac integration with movies...shrug
Either way, it's "been about time for an update" since .mac came out :p

Did I suggest that? I think not.
Well, you provided a cautionary tale in response to my suggestion.
That's why I asked how you felt about it.
Please note ... I asked.
If something is making money why would you cut it?
That's my question.

Secondly, the term "3rd world" and "1st world" is offensive. The proper term is developing and developed world.
Yawn. In 5 years, those terms will be "offensive". Then we'll have to call them "mature" and "growing". Then, 20 years later that will be offensive, and we'll have to call them "service oriented" and "industry oriented". Then, 20 years later that will be offensive, and we'll have to call them "1st world" and "3rd world" again. Get off your PC high horse and deal with life straight on instead of hiding behind semantics.
*note: PC does not always refer to computers.

Competition is good :) Keeps Apple on their toes
Don't need another MS Monopoly.......
And it least Android has healthy competition too (unlike MS).

Hmm... Cinema displays also got a bump.
20" ACD
Brightness: 250 cd/m2 -> 300 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 400:1 -> 700:1
23" ACD
Brightness: 270 cd/m2 -> 400 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 400:1 -> 700:1
Nice find, thanks. I was hoping they'd update the displays. Now to see when my local Apple Store will have them in stock :p

Quality would probably go down.
Highly debatable. More than likely working conditions would be far superior to what they are in China or Japan, and everyone knows happy employees are good employees.

Half of their profit comes from the sale of one device. Say that the iPhone 6 was a flop, imagine having to tell your investors you're losing 50% projected profit nearly overnight.
I would not think it would be fair comparing cell phones to computers as their designed for much different markets. As more adults own cell phones then computers you would expect higher profits off of it. Apple was doing quite well even before they entered the phone market.
A more realistic comparison would be phone to phone or computer to computer.

I reckon Lion will be the last of cat names used for OS X.
They can't really call the next one Ocelot, for example.

I guess I can see Apple's point. But, aren't all tablets going to have a similar style and interface? It would seem like there can be only marginal differences in a touch screen interface.
ahem... windows phone? it sucks, but the difference is by no means marginal.

iCal has been visually overhauled to look like the iPad version
Just clarifying, iCal for iPad looks like paper sitting on top of a cardboard/cork texture. This is a leather book... so maybe we'll see an iPad UI update as well?

Well Apple doesn't sell its software for use on any other phones (or computers), so how is it competing with software-installed numbers on all hardware types?
Apple isn't forced to allow iOS only on their own devices.
Besides, Apple is doing the same thing with OS X, it's made for Macs only, and people have always been comparing their sales against Windows.
Seems to me you're just bitter about it.

I think that depends on what Dell, Sony, Toshiba, etc, come out with. No way is Apple going to still be selling a 2.16 Core Duo at it's top end laptop when the PC makers have Core 2 Duo chips.
Apple never was a part of Mhz rat-race. Look at its bestselling Powerbook. How fast was it compared to the then PC laptops. Anyways, WWDC is suppose to be developers conference, so we should speculate more about Leopard and hopefuly MacPros (because they are long due) insted of iPods and MBPs.
