Michael Dell as a PERSON made those comments. Since then he has said that he would sell Mac OS X in a heartbeat. The public doesn't hear those comments. We hear them, but not the general public.
I am talking about messages the general public does see: magazine and TV ads.
Apple's ads are about PCs being bad and Macs being good.
They don't say Dell or HP. But who makes PC's?
I have never seen a PC manufacturer put out an ad that attacks Macs.
When Dell made those comments, Apple was a mess. Has anyone ever actually read the rest if the article for context? Beleive it or not, things actually change in a decade. If Steve Jobs had not taken over when he did, it is likely that the company would have folded. Even then it was touch and go for a couple years. What has changed? Apple has gone from behind in almost every single category to carving out its own niche of the market and releasing new innovative products.

i dont know if anyone has said this yet, but why dont they just turn a ipod into a phone instead of turning a phone into an ipod... seriously, an 80gig ipod w/ the ability to call and text people and etc. alhtough, i suppose the tech isnt there to make it small enough for the average consumer to enjoy

"Awesome?"
*jumps into Windows 7 in Parallels to check it out again*
"Awesome???"
Awesome to those used to sub-par products...
The perfect analogy would be you and your lazy cousin: you pass school every year with excellent grades and get normal Christmas presents since this is your expected performance.
But when your lazy/stupid cousin, who has failed school two or three years in a row, passes with reasonable grades, he gets a Ferrari...get it?

It seems to me, apple is matching video quality of the downloads exactly to what the iPod can handle...
This seems logical now, so can we expect better movies after ture video iPods.

I know. And heroics by gun toting civilians is mostly a product of fantasy as well. The idea of whipping your gun out to save the day is absurd.
It's only fantasy because not enough law-abiding civilians are toting guns.
Virginia Tech, Trolley Square, Columbine, Ft. Hood, the list goes on and on - someone trained, armed, and on location in any of those tragedies could have been a godsend.
The fact an off-duty policeman was onsite at Trolley Square certainly saved many lives, but an armed, trained civilian could have done the same.

Creative's stock up 30% in after-hours trading. The $100 million is a drop in the bucket for Apple, but it will certainly help Creative...
Yeah, but at least Apple doesn't have to worry about any more lawsuits

Kentsfield is two Conroes on a single die. They don't share cache like the previous Pentium D chips. So they'll each have 4 MB of cache and then communicate over the front side bus.
Minor terminology correction - the "die" is the silicon chip, the "package" is the carrier with the pins....
http://www.xbitlabs.com/web/2006-6-22.html
Kentsfield consists of two Conroe dies, each featuring two cores and 4MB of L2 cache.
See http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/12/04/top_secret_intel_processor_plans_uncovered/page4.html
(this shows a Pentium D image, but Kentsfield is doing the same trick.)

There's pretty much no news in this news piece.
We know it's going to include Sandy Bridge and Thunderbolt. We know it's unlikely to be re-designed and we know it's going to be between now and May.
Where's the news here?
We need specs. Some CPU and other info, at least.

Time to buy a machine for my wife.
Just hope they don't decide to redesign the iMac the beginning of next year like they plan to do with the Macbooks.

That is the common sense reaction. You're seeing mac zealots here trying to trumpet how great these new iPods are.
Updating a 4:3 screen with another 4:3 screen and claiming it's improved is like Yugo rereleasing their car and claiming it's improved because the gas cap is a different color. It's still a Yugo.
Even apple admits that the iPod with video is pretty much the same box. Are you sure you're not getting confused by people excited by the new shuffle and nano? Or the software updates, which also apply to the previous iPod? I think I smell a straw man.
Because they use the same battery, how can videos play longer and not music?
Probably because video playback has been optimized, or they're using different video chips or screen.
Well Folks, you all seem to be concerned about if your iPod 5G is outdated..
ever thought about that?
If I got Steve right, no iPod that was sold prior to this very day will be able to play videos from the iTMS sold from this day on - not if Apple hasn't been lying VERY much about the H.264 decoding capabilities of the "old" iPod 5G.
I thought the 5G was already able to handle 640x480 movies, just couldn't display them at full resolution?
Doesn't matter if it has been opened. I bought an iMac right before the new ones came out, it was bto with the upc cut out and sent in for the free iPod offer. They gave a FULL refund with no restocking fee, even I made sure they knew it was opened with the upc cut off. This policy is different than their normal return policy.
Is that policy documented somewhere? Sounds like someone may have decided to be nice to you and make an exception.

All of you W7 humpers please try and "snap" two excel or word files next to each other. Oh that right you cant, because heaven forbid I would want to do that and work simultaneous on two MS office files.

As for the Senator's request, they cannot be required to take it down. If cops are so overt that apps can bust their checkpoints, maybe they should be floating checkpoints?
It's illegal. Police need to publicly announce check points before setting up. Ironic they would want to pull the app since this is the basis that makes them legal in the first place.

"Shooting To Wound" is purely a product of television, movies, and video games. In real situations where gunfire is exchanged, milliseconds count, and center mass until the target is down is the ONLY reality.

What about the Mini?
No one knows. These are just rumors anyhow. The absence of Mac mini rumors means nothing.
In terms of CPU and graphics, the Mac mini is most similar to the low-end MacBook rather than the iMac.

then why did apple cripple the 13" macbook pro's with ****** resolution then?
Because they can. The 13" MBP is a gateway drug.

That other thing that sucks in the folder view. I want folders first in A to Z, then files A to Z like in Windows... Not a default option....Well I like the OSX way, and showing it that way is not an option in Windows.... so.... what's the difference? It's just down to what one is used to.
Edit: Although you could list by type, which would accomplish what you're looking for, FYI.

Well, Ive dismissed most of the other complaints. But this is Rogue Amoeba. Phil Schiller needs to get involved with this immediately completely unacceptable. They are one of the premier Mac shareware developers.
Indeed, I hope Apple listens and apologizes etc. to get Rogue Amoeba back.
Come on Apple!
