It clearly states Dolby Surround and Dolby Pro Logic Systems. This is from the VHS days. DVDs support Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS. This is plain nuts. Not only are you getting slightly inferior picture, the sound is ancient. Dolby Surround is nowhere as good as Dolby Digital. Here is a simple explanation.
Dolby Surround uses two tracks of audio to encode 4 tracks. The two additional tracks are for the center channel and a single rear channel. The single rear channel is not full spectrum (20Hz - 20kHz), but rather something very narrow.
For comparison, if you have a good surround sound system (I am not talking about the $200 Home Theatre in a box system, but a system that cost at least $1000), play a DVD that has both Dolby Surround and Dolby Digital. Play with the Dolby Surround track first and then play with the Dolby Digital track next. Huge difference. I am disappointed. Surely, there is a way they could embed discrete surround with AAC.

I'm amazed that so many people are basing their judgment of the "head shot" on 3rd person shooter games and CSI. In the real world, anyone with training will always be aiming for the center of mass, and where he actually hits depends more on luck than anything else.
In other words, just because the criminal was hit in the head, doesn't mean that the security guard was aiming for his head. A mall security guard with a pistol shooting at a moving target during a gunfight doesn't have the accuracy of a Marine sniper shooting a sniper rifle at a stationary target.
You are quite correct. Anyone with gun experience knows this. It's not a video game, it's not a movie. And the whole scene takes place in a matter of seconds. I'd like to see what the armchair cowboys would do in the real life situation.

Just downloaded the app and had a quick look. All I can say is this data would be pretty useless if you're trying to work out where I've been. As a lot - and I mean more than 60% - of the dots are in places that I've never even been! In the FAQ for the app they say this will happen, but some of these places are like 30-60 miles from where I actually was during the weeks in question.
So I wouldn't worry about it too much, if it was actual GPS data and not Cell Tower triangulation then it would be much more accurate, but as it appears [at least from my cursory glance] you couldn't really tell where I was with any degree of accuracy. In fact, there was one week where it put me in Bristol UK with lots of dots all over the city and I was actually in Spain!

hey now, no punching poor homeless abused pets, especially poor sweet puppies and dogs!! i own a sweet doberman that i adopted from paws chicago who was used for dog fighting and now he has a home where he is loved on a daily basis, thats the only way poor abused animals have a chance, making commercials showing the fact that they need peoples help and maybe someone will even adopt one or a few... that would be great as long as the animal got in a good home!

It's funny...and I say this not as a rumor...just coincidence.

No more than $2,499/ �1,799. With the amount of internal room you would get behind a 23" monitor, Apple would have no problem putting in 4 RAM slots and a fast GPU (but I doubt Apple would do a fast GPU anyway).

According to the Page 2 Rumors there are some significant speed ups to OpenGL in the next update to 10.4 due to multithreading. Apple has had 4 processor systems for over a year now. I would think they have some ideas about how to make use of it.

I've been under the impression that gapless was only desired by 0.000001% of the users, and therefore Apple didn't give a damn about it. I assumed that the other 99.999999% of users only listen to shuffle mode and don't care about traditional albums. Seems pretty reasonable based on what's popular these days. But the #1 request? Surely this should have been fixed in the 2nd generation iPod then, 3rd generation at the latest.
I'm not complaining, this just really, really surprises me. I'm so happy to see that it's fixed, finally, so I can go out and buy a replacement iPod soon, after holding out for over a year. Better days are here to stay. ;)

What many people fail to realize it Creative had some accessories that have adapters that work with the Shuffle and the ipod however this alows them to actually put the "made for ipod" tag on it.

What tone? Yeah I don't want to spend that much. I'm thinking $4k max for an 8 Core-In-One Mac Pro. I'm sure I'll be pretty happy with 8 until I find out I still have to wait a lot for video compressions to happen. Then I'll be right back here complaining about how 8 cores isn't enough either.
My Xeon utilization is only 50% per proc while compressing in Quicktime Pro. Even during an HD export (http://www.macpro.ws/P3.jpg) the fans don't get use.
