I get notifications, but no sound..
Does anyone know if the sync will add new contacts to your phone/fb or if it just syncs data for the existing phone contacts?
Doesn't add new contacts - just amends existing ones.

Wow, that bar-b-q at Bill's place panned out. Didn't expect a talk over a few beers and ribs over how to manage over 100 million users in a data center would come to something. At least no blood sucking head hunter got a commission on this one and he got a better signing bonus. Welcome to the club!

Very, very slick. Only problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to flag something as junk, or modify the buttons/icons at the top to flag/junk, ec messages. Any pointers?

So as we all know we'll get the A5 chip but don't know what clock speeds, we will get a design much like the iPhone 4 which IMO is fantastic news, a pretty much confirmed 8mpx camera unit from Sony which again is just fantastic news, so long as Apple have learnt to protect the lens a bit!!
And we are all expecting to have 64gb version and lets hope the 32gb takes the place and price point of the 16gb.
And now this brilliant news, and I am going to state I bet one of those developers is Gameloft and I bet it's developing it's Unreal Engine based game for it!!!! Black Ops running on the iPhone 5 and Unreal Engine anyone? Sounds truthful to me :)
I'm thinking the next iPhone will be a keeper for a few years, well 2 anyway haha.

Federal Agency Will Review a Kodak Patent Claim.
A federal agency has decided to review Eastman Kodaks patent claim against Apple and Research In Motion. The International Trade Commission said Friday it would look at a judges finding in January that Apples iPhone and RIMs BlackBerry do not violate a 2001 Kodak image-preview patent. The favorable decision revives Kodaks hopes of negotiating royalties worth $1 billion or more. The agencys six commissioners will decide by May 23 whether to alter the initial determination by its chief administrative judge or let it stand.

Wow! what a great concept.
Pretty much like some hybrid cars getting power from when they brake.
The fact that it generates its own electricity, yes, but the same principle no. For light to normal braking the electric motor can act as a power generator, harnessing the kinetic energy of the moving wheels. Brake pads are not involved. Its called progressive braking. Brake pads come into play when you brake hard.
too bad that's not really anything that laptops can do..unless we can attach a generator to the hard drive and use it to charge the battery when it spins down.
it's an interesting concept to use heat..i wonder how they will do it. No steam engine here.

after all this hype if iOS 5 is just a small improvement that would be ludicrous.

A call from The Consumerist to AT&T online sales:
Daphne: Welcome to AT&T online Sales support. How may I assist you with placing your order today?
Laura: Hi, I was looking at the iPhone 3Gs and the system tells me that I cannot order one in my ZIP code. My zip code is 11231. (Brooklyn, NY) Is this true? Are iPhones no longer available in New York City?
Daphne: I am happy to be helping you today . Yes, this is correct the phone is not offered to you because New York is not ready for the iPhone.
Daphne: You don't have enough towers to handle the phone.
Laura: Thank you for your help. So the phone is not available to people anywhere in the city?
Daphne: Yes this is correct Laura.
-----------
This is an effing joke. You are actually trying to stop paying customers from using your service? AT&T, you're an embarrassment. Apple had better make sure this exclusivity ends next year. This is about as ridiculous as it can get.

I would love to see Apple open up with an entire line of IOS devices. They keep comparing the iPhone with Android despite there being numerous devices from different manufacturers. Having an exclusive product that only a few could was ok when there was no competition. Now, with there being so many cool phones like the EVo and othere, Apple needs ot step the game up.
Offer a Evo sized HD iPhone. The Evo screen even though it is inferior in resolution is nice. Using the map program on it is rnjoyaboe and you do not have to zoom like you do on the iPhone.
Have a iphone Nano that is $100 with a smaller screen if it is possible to still run the apps etc.
Sell the thing on all carriers and give Android a run for its money. i think if a Verizon or Sprint customer had a choice between an iPhone and a Galaxy, they would choose an iPhone.

Instead of suing everyone, kodak needs to get on this retro kick and start selling kodachrome camera's and film again for cheap. Stop using digital, start developing.
Did Kodak stop making film? Doesn't the niche film market already buy Kodak film.... and get cool cameras from Goodwill?
That doesn't seem to be helping EK. I think they might need to innovate their way out of their slump. Suing, right or wrong (I don't pretend to understand), will not keep them afloat forever... especially when their patents expire.
Speaking of that... let's see:
a 20 yr patent granted in 1996, probably filed in 1995
a lawsuit in 2011 that might take a bit of time if it isn't settled
More lawsuits to come if they are successful.
...Kodak seems to be cutting this a little close.

Kodak's stock is up 11.5% today. (as a result of this news?)
I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about here but their Market capitalization is 938.40M which is, obviously, less that 1 billion.
Maybe Apple, RIM, and whomever else is on their targeted list should just buy Kodak and pool the camera patents.

A little off topic, but question for those who need Office software, and also run Parallels/Fusion: Do you prefer Office For Mac, or do you prefer to run "regular" Office in Parallels/Fusion? Thanks.
Well, you got support for plugins as far as I know in Office 2007/2010 while I don't know if you have it in Office 2008/2011. One of the plugins for example is Ribbon Hero, an interactive tutorial for Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote.
