I also think Apple will leave the MB with Yonah. They will want product differentiation and price differentiation.

So I think they will drop the price to <$1000.00 for MB and re-design MBP to provide enhancements similar to MB but with faster Merom CPU's and higher price than MB.

To be honest, I bought a MacBook and I am happy with it; it has best price/performance ratio of all the Mac notebooks and I didn't want to spend too much money (just bought it for fun). But if Apple tried to sell a MacBook with Yonah while selling MacBook Pro with Merom, where I know exactly that they could get Merom chips at the same price as Yonahs, just for "product differentiation", I would tell them to stuff it.

I would say make it even smaller.

Mac Pro should be based on Mac mini, but with a choice of i7 or Xeon CPU, 6 user-serviceable memory slots, 2-3 expansion slots, and choice of 256 or 512 GB SSD. Complemented by multiple Thunderbolt port, external Superdrive, and Apple's own 5-bay DAS.

Yah I agree. I think there needs to be a factor between the iMac and MacPro.

I want the power of the top of the line iMac but in a small form factor with upgradable slots for video, memory, etc.

While I don't care who sues who - in the end the laywers win.. and yes, Samsung UI is very similar to iPhone..

However, the iPhone GUI isn't new at all.

Take a look at this screen shot of the SE P910 UI, released well before iPhone.

    http://www.files32.com/images/handy_tools_2005_for_sony_ericsson-73554-thumb.gif

Conceptually, the UI is very similar - in that that you have:

    (1) application icons
    (2) Application short cuts ( at the top )
    (3) Power , strength and other status indicators etc ( at the bottom )

I'm sure there are many other examples of conceptual similar iPhone UIs that contain the same properties and behaviour and layout out ina similar fashion.

NO It's not, are you crazy. That looks horrid. iOS icons have unique look to them, placement is not patented. The look is.

The lawsuit goes after Samsung trying to replicate and confuse customers into thinking that it's an iPhone.

Apple is a business whose mission is to sell phones, computers, and software. You as a customer buy those products, but they are designed by Apple. If you have a problem with Apple establishing a standard across its products to ensure quality, then you can just stop using them. That easy, just stop buying Apple products and stop using them, period.

That's right, I'm a customer, and I'll modify my apple device how I see fit, and that including jailbreaking, enabling XCode to develop applications for my device without paying apple $99 ( afterall, nothing is going to reach the appstore - so why does Apple deserve the $99 ?). At the end of the day - a JB device is more useful than a locked up device.

This may explain why Apple is, apparently, still going ahead with the white iPhone 4. And also not obsolete some Verizon purchasers so fast.

Maybe if they go on a little longer refresh schedule, it will match up a little better with carrier subsidies.

On the other hand, since my intent is to skip the next generation, that may mean I wait 2 1/2 years instead of 2 years. Will the phone absorb the drops, etc, that it gets that long?

    Interesting poll by Gallup:

The rich are more likely to think their taxes are too high:

Yes, I want to donate to the Fed (http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/the-real-housewives-of-wall-street-look-whos-cashing-in-on-the-bailout-20110411?page=1) (so that my money can go lie on a Cayman island beach, since I never will be able to).

Holy crap! You know these things are going on but to read the details is nauseating.

And then there are the bailout deals that make no sense at all. Republicans go mad over spending on health care and school for Mexican illegals. So why aren't they flipping out over the $9.6 billion in loans the Fed made to the Central Bank of Mexico? How do we explain the $2.2 billion in loans that went to the Korea Development Bank, the biggest state bank of South Korea, whose sole purpose is to promote development in South Korea? And at a time when America is borrowing from the Middle East at interest rates of three percent, why did the Fed extend $35 billion in loans to the Arab Banking Corporation of Bahrain at interest rates as low as one quarter of one point?

Even more disturbing, the major stakeholder in the Bahrain bank is none other than the Central Bank of Libya, which owns 59 percent of the operation. In fact, the Bahrain bank just received a special exemption from the U.S. Treasury to prevent its assets from being frozen in accord with economic sanctions. That's right: Muammar Qaddafi received more than 70 loans from the Federal Reserve, along with the Real Housewives of Wall Street.

Perhaps the most irritating facet of all of these transactions is the fact that hundreds of millions of Fed dollars were given out to hedge funds and other investors with addresses in the Cayman Islands. Many of those addresses belong to companies with American affiliations including prominent Wall Street names like Pimco, Blackstone and . . . Christy Mack. Yes, even Waterfall TALF Opportunity is an offshore company. It's one thing for the federal government to look the other way when Wall Street hotshots evade U.S. taxes by registering their investment companies in the Cayman Islands. But subsidizing tax evasion? Giving it a federal bailout?

I don't know what you guys mean by leaders. We make our decisions individually in the thread, right?

    Interactions with the Game Masters:

All heroes interact in the thread. If they split up, they all have telepathic powers, given to them by the Wizard, so they know what is happening with the other team. A leader will be designated by the team at the beginning of the game (and at the time of a split) who will report to the Game Masters the desired actions. The rules state that actions will be taken with a vote, but the Game Masters will not keep track, they will trust the designated leader. If drama ensues, this is a desired possible result. Honesty is obviously highly desired.

    From the OP

So we really need to vote on a leader so we can get this thing moving forward. If you don't want to split up, I suggest voting for someone other than DP

Apple learned that with their old music player, you know the one before the iPod, oh wait there wasn't one...

Oh yah, there was one. It was a CD player that was soooo bad hardy a soul bought it and it's barely remembered. I think it happened while Steve was at Next abd the idjuts were in control of of Apple. It may have set a record for a short lifespan, not counting Microsoft's vaporware that was never spawned.

...obviously, is the rollout of a "Kindle Tablet" running Honeycomb.

The custom Amazon front end would have icons for:

Kindle Reading App (and Kindle Store)
Amazon Music Player (with cloud storage) and MP3 Store
Amazon Prime Streaming Video (and the Amazon Video Store)
    Amazon Android App Store
    Cloud Storage Manager
    Some sort of Web Browser

And underneath that is Honeycomb. Maybe they throw in a free Amazon Prime subscription with purchase (free 2-day shipping on Amazon purchases).

Here would be Amazon leveraging all their strengths into a physical device that could seriously challenge the iPad in ways that no other vendor can, because it creates an Amazon "ecosystem" with the worlds biggest store for physical goods attached.

    People like to shop.

Maybe that's why Google have put the lid on Honeycomb source availability - they've twigged that Amazon were going to use their latest OS to produce an Android killer :). Though I guess running Android doesn't exactly kill it... Hmm but Amazon are definitely encroaching as much into Google's turf as Apple's. Google are definitely going to be launching a digital locker soon, and knowing Google it will be very useful, very capacious, and very free (ish...).

Think we're seeing a battle between them, and Apple is on the sidelines wondering how they will compete and still sustain the locked down user expectations that generate their revenue. Interesting times....

    You people are all wrong.

This icon is going on the iPhone, which is going to quadruple the number of pixels in each direction, to 2560 x 3840.

Oh wait, even then then the icon consumes a ridiculous amount of space on the screen...

From what I've read, this really isn't that big of an issue. The database is just a list (that's locally stored) of places that you've been to. If it was uploaded to Apple, I would definitely be concerned but if it's a local file, then what's the fuss?
To get to the information, people would have to either:

    A. Steal your phone and access the file
    B. Steal your computer and access your iPhone backups
    C. Hack your phone and find the file (if that's even possible)
    D. Hack your computer and access the backups
    E. Follow you wherever you go (unlikely, but who knows)

To me those options are more worrying when it comes to privacy than a list of coordinates stored locally on your phone, hidden in some sub-folder.

Anyway, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    Ams.

But Toyota wasn't jailbreaking. Didn't the courts rule that Apple couldn't stop the jailbreak community?Yes, but the ruling was based on the fact that it's all for 'personal use.'

No they didnt. They ruled that distributing custom (jailbroken) firmware wasnt in violation of copyright law.

Apple cant sue people who jailbreak or distribute jailbreaks for copyright infringement. They can, however, still try to prevent people from jailbreaking.
