Apple is one greedy corporation that just loves to attack.. typical of the coming corporate takeover of humanity.
How is this an attack? Apple can't make enough devices to match demand, while RIM will have a hard time selling the few units they do make. If RIM had people lining up every morning to get an rPad, they would have an issue.
You are not supply limited if you can't sell what you make.

The problem with the cloud based approach is the current limits on data usage. If your not on wifi I can see a good amount of folks going through 2GB of data quick.

It installs various components into your system, so no, not until Apple modifies their guidelines.
Seeing how many things it does install and the size of the download, I wouldn't install this on any computer. Looks like FUDware to me.

With Provantage, the total cost is $101.58 so it's probably worth just hanging out with my current order as its clearly a TomTom issue. I like, and know Provantage and they are a good company, but waiting is waiting. Also, keep in mind this car kit is a good addition even using the new Google app should it arrive someday soon.
yes very true, I think i might stick with BLT as well, hard to beat 85 dollars...lol, especially since i just learned that the new Magellan Car Kit will cost 129.99 :eek: and here we all were complaining about tomtom's pricing...lol. I will say, just as i have stated before though, that it is still enticing to go to my local apple store and pick up a unit. I guess it all depends on if I go on some spur of the moment trip..lol

As I've postulated in other threads, this is why I believe the 19th is still quite viable for a MBP update release. Apple may be starting a precedent by releasing updated hardware before an event featuring announcements that will benefit greatly on those new updated systems.A note from a reseller posted on xlr8yourmac yesterday notes that ALL their MB/P orders were delayed until the 19th.

Yes, new holes will be found. And Apple will try to plug those up, as well. I can't see an argument for people complaining that Apple is patching security holes.
At least on iPhone you can apply the updates on the day they come out (well, JB versions have to wait a couple of days) ... compare this to Android and WinMobile7 where you are at the mercy of the carrier to 'enrich' the update with their 'features' which might take many weeks or month - if it ever comes.

I would hazard a guess that the thinner facade suggests a lack of optical media drives, or if it does have one, a vertical slot-loader. But I think what with flash drive or Internet distribution, optical media drives aren't really needed any more, even on a Pro machine.
If they made the MacBook Air External Superdrive bootable and compatible with any computer I would welcome the elimination of internal optical drives.

true. the photographer thing is a bit whiffy.
I think its basically going to be similar to a nano, with a unique original keypad design and larger screen. maybe throw in an isight or 2 for good measure.

I was at a local apple store and they are selling the tom tom car kit already. What a rip off, because you have to pay for the app seperate. I got the griffin car mount for $20 at frys and the navigon app, works great.

I gotta agree. Something about going with IOS as a touchy-feely just doesn't rub me right. There are improvements that I really welcome - but I don't think using an Mac App Store for application deployment is required. The Restore feature is just Time Machine augmented in my narrow mind.

This looks good to me. My pain point is syncing my 120GB or so of music with a hard drive that I have at my office. I don't need to stream music from the cloud, but that's nice.
We'll soon have USB-sized drives that hold that much data. I'll probably hold out for some kind of one-time cost like that. Even now the drives that hold this stuff are about wallet sized, so it's just a matter of bringing it home once in a while and syncing it up. The price point is great, but not something I want to pay yet.
I use AWS for some Web servers and it has been a fantastic service. I agree with the poster above that this paves the way for Amazon to be the defacto content supplier on Android devices. Not a bad place to be.

I would go for an Apple phone if they are as easy to use and featurepacked as a sony erriccson, but with that special apple-y goodness like a wifi voip mode or ichat voice and video hook up or something.

Now before I'm lambarsted because the iMac is not a 'pro' machine, I am a professional graphic designer and I am in the market for one.
I was surprised that my iMac was as good as it was at doing Pro stuff, and it's a lowly G5. Just buy lots of RAM. Especially while you wait for Adobe to update to UBs.

I don't know what the rest of you are thinking, but I think this may tie in nicely with the iTV, control it from this new device, plus a whole lot more, and could even be the iPod for home use, streaming your music to the wireless speakers or anywhere else in the house.
Dim the lights, light up the fire, open the wine, put on the music, heck perhaps it even does the housework for you :-)

A better analogy would be a scientist trying to explain to a Christian scientist why evolution makes more sense than a strict interpretation of the Bible. Or Galileo (was it him?) trying to convince people that the Earth revolved around the Sun.

I went and found sources on my own. I don't know how to explain a lot of different concepts that hinges on each other that will be utterly convincing in 100-200 words. It took me a few years to unlearn all the crap I learned in economics classes in college. I can't do the same for you in a few minutes.
